Drain Excavation & Renewal

In some circumstances, it is necessary or preferable to excavate and renew a drain rather than relining it. For example, to improve design or flow characteristics or where damage is so severe that renewal is the only option. more info

‘When excavation is necessary, we are acutely aware of customers’ concerns about having their home or business premises turned into a building site. As such, we are are exceptionally considerate, undertaking careful planning and preparation to minimise the level and duration of disruption suffered by the customer. We also liaise continuously with the client, taking heed of any special requirements or requests that they may have, our aim being to fit in as best we can with the customer’s daily routines’.

Methods of Repair

is a permanent method of structurally repairing damaged or leaking drains, quickly and efficiently, with no need to excavate. It is particularly useful where tree roots are a problem, as it is impervious to root ingress due to the liner being completely joint-less. A form of CIPP (Cured In Place Pipe) liner, the product is basically a polyester needle felt tube, backed with polyurethane, that is impregnated with a specialist  resin and then inserted (deflated) into the damaged pipe. The liner is then inflated using air or water, and allowed to cure to form a new thin-walled but extremely tough new pipe within the old. This type of liner is used throughout the world for sewer and drain repairs, providing a high quality repair with an expected life of over 50 years.

– Isolated Repair System
is ideal for relining entire drain runs from one end to the other but sometimes there can be just a single defect in an otherwise perfectly sound length of drain. This is when ’s Isolated Repair System comes into its own. This high performance, No-Dig pipe repair is installed internally  within the pipe, thus obviating costly and disruptive excavations. It is available in pipe sizes from 100mm to 1000mm diameter .

Pitch Fibre Reforming

Widely used in the 1960's - 70's pitch fibre drains were a revolution in their time, but unfortunately have a tendency over time to 'blister' or become deformed and misshapen. This can lead to blockages or even partial collapse. 's solution is to reform the drains without digging. First, we CCTV survey the drain to ensure that it can be ‘reformed’; then we reform the pipes by winching though a series of cutters and reforming mandrels to remove blisters and to reshape the pipes to circular, before relining the pipe with a CIPP structural liner to prevent further deformation happening. Such repairs are backed by a 15-year guarantee.

N.B. - Many insurance companies will at present pay for the repairs.

Excavation & Renewal of Drains

In some instances it is necessary to dig or excavate in order to replace or repair pipework. In such circumstances we pride ourselves on making every effort to reinstate any excavations as close as possible to their original condition, or in some cases even better than how we found them!

Whilst we own and operate mechanical diggers, we only use them where site conditions allow. Careful hand-digging is usually the order of the day, in order to keep disruption to the absolute minimum.

Our high standards of reinstatement include;

When digging through a lawn, we carefully cut the turf, maintaining it while the excavation is open, then re-laying it so you can hardly see the join. Similarly, plants and shrubs will be carefully lifted and cared for, before being painstakingly replanted at the end of the job.

If digging through concrete, we skilfully blend various sands so that any concrete used in the repairs matches as closely as possible the original surrounding concrete.

The re-laying or re-building of any patios, paving or walls.

Similarly should work need to be carried out inside your home our engineers will complete the repairs in the least disruptive and cleanest manner possible, meticulously cleaning up after themselves so you don't have to!

Our aim is that once we've completed the work you would hardly know know we'd been there!

Repair Materials

Our commitment to quality also extends to the materials that we use, and as such we only utilise the highest quality PVCu (plastic) and vitrified clayware pipe fittings. Coupled with this we also maintain an extensive stock of "Osmadrain" PVCu and Hepworth "SuperSleve" vitrified clayware pipes and fittings, Flexseal repair couplings, sand, ballasts, cements and other commonly used materials. This allows us constant access to the highest quality materials, ensuring that we always arrive on site punctually and can carry out all repairs without delay from builders merchants.
